Time for Spring Clean-up - with a new Nebraska Probate V Update
Spring has finally begun around the country offices of Nebraska Probate System V and it has inspired us to with spring clean-up fever. Our newest update contains not only a brand new form but some requested changes, clean-ups and updates that have been suggested to us by our Probate System V users.

NOTIFICATION TO ALL USERS RE MOVING OF MAIN PROBATE SYSTEM V INSTALLATIONS
Important information regarding the moving of a main Probate System V installation-
Recently, there seems to have been a rash of new computer buying in Nebraska. It has come to our attention that many of our users don’t seem to understand how the Nebraska system is licensed.
The Nebraska Probate System V can be installed on a network drive and be available to as many people as there are Work Station installations. People with work station installations can not open files from their computer although they can work on them. There was originally a concept of a shared meter but it was dropped as it caused too many problems.
All new files must be purchased from the computer upon which the original installation was created. This is because of the meter. The meter itself is only licensed to one computer.
If you move the installation to a new computer, the link to the meter will be broken. Although you will be able to work on the files you have already created, you will be unable to purchase new files.
Therefore, if you want to move the MAIN installation, you will need to have an entirely new installation done, ie you will need to contact Rose at (914) 827-9173 and make an appointment as you did the first time. As a consideration for the extra time involved, we simply ask that if you have less than 5 units on your system, you purchase at least one additional unit so that we can have legitimate purchase code for the reinstallation.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation and continued support.

HotFix - Tax Worksheet, Form 220 and Form 106 improvements
This hotfix covers the fix for the Form 220 to avoid an error message and the removal of some extra text from the Nebraska Tax Worksheet. We also added an improvement for the 106 Form. While it is always advisable to do an Update application (see Chapter 2 of your manual for the proper procedure), it may not be necessary with this small HotFix.

Note on Forum Membership
To all members of the Nebraska Bar:
The NSBA Probate V forum is a forum for persons who have purchased NSBA Probate System V. Therefore all registrations are usually done through Basha Systems. While we would love for all members of the Bar to be able to make use of this forum, like everyone else these days, this forum has been the recipient of phishing scams and spammers which we are very diligent about deleting. Therefore, it is impossible for us to determine which non NSBA Probate V member registrations are legitimate and which are not. If you would like to participate in this forum but do not feel ready to purchase the NSBA Probate V system at this time, please contact Rose at (914) 827-9173 and she will be happy to issue you a member ID.
Thank you for your understanding.

Mandatory Update - December 1, 2006
Please find instructions for the latest UPDATE. The following are MANDATORY UPDATES.

NEBAR - Common - RIGHT CLICK TO SAVE
NEBAR - Probate System - RIGHT CLICK TO SAVE
NOTE: We are very pleased with the number of you who are remembering to update your Probate Systems. STABILITY AND SUPPORT ISSUES
We have had several reports of lost data. Most often, these reports occurred when a new file was opened and the user, unintentionally would open two Main Lists (one blank, one with data) and the blank version would overwrite the one with data. This is fixed in the current build. For this reason, this is a MANDATORY update.
SHARED METER
We have had support calls from users who had SHARED units, and then found that the shared meter had gone to zero. We have altered the code that is designed to prevent tampering with the meter which may resolve most instances. We have also added a password protected utility that we can use to “quickly” restore to the shared meter any units that were inadvertently lost.
ERRORS IN NAMING FILE AND DECEDENT
We have had support calls from users who misnamed a File and the name of the Decedent. It is VERY important that you take the confirming message boxes seriously. We now have a procedure where we can remote-in and Rename the File (and related files) to make the correction in a few minutes.
ESTATE PLANNING WORKSHEET
Modifications have been made to the worksheet. The “labels” for a number of items reflected the line numbers of the original estate planning worksheet. These labels have now been corrected. There is an open issue on the handling of the Marital Deduction which is currently being reviewed.
PROBATE SYSTEM MANUAL:
The Manual for Probate System V is included in the new build. It is accessible from the HELP menu on the Probate Application.

Annual Meeting Recap
We had a very successful annual meeting. Thanks for everyone who turned out. Over 55 people registered for two seminars on advanced customization of Probate System V. We showcased some new customization feature (included in an appendix of the manual) that will be made available in December. We recorded the audio and the visuals of the two sessions. We will be splicing together the best of both sessions into a single video class and making it available through this site. More on that when it is ready.
